China travel keeps Heathrow flying high

Snowfall and flight cancellations failed to stem the flow of travellers passing through Heathrow?s terminals in January, as the airport today reported record passenger numbers for the month.

Soaring demand for flights to China meant that Heathrow handled more than 5.18 million passengers in January, up by 0.3 per cent on January 2012.

Traffic to China from Heathrow rose by 14.1 per cent with India traffic up by 7.1 per cent. North America traffic rose by 2.2 per cent and European traffic by 1.8 per cent. However, domestic traffic was down by 5.8 per cent.
