Sr Risk Analyst Job, Microsoft - Data Center Job Board

Data Center Operations Engineering is a team of senior engineers and risk managers within the Data Center Services (DCS) group. Our responsibilities include owning our data centers complex requirements and ensuring site-up and cost down targets are met within Microsofts overall operating framework. Our team is looking for a senior risk management professional with well-rounded experience in risk management; including risk identification and risk review/monitoring, but with strong emphasis in risk assessment and risk mitigation. Our team is energetic and manages diverse, complex programs on a global level and the candidate will need to have large scale experience to fit in well.

Roles & Responsibilities

1. This role will assist the Principal Global Risk Manager in providing risk management services to MSs overall data center infrastructure. These services will include providing risk assessments that will enable the DCS management team to make more well-informed business decisions.
2. Success in this role will be demonstrated by recommendations of viable risk mitigation strategies for identified risks, accompanied by well supported risk analysis.

3. Assist the DCS Principal Global Risk Manager in driving business review processes to keep senior DCS and GFS management appraised of material risk issues and the risk profile, and develop, recommend and/or implement appropriate risk mitigation strategies.

4. Monitor assigned activities, processes, operations, and associated risk exposures of DCS to identify, analyze and assess DCS worldwide operational risks.

5. Communicate risk identification and assessment findings, and make appropriate recommendations to the Principal Global Risk Manager and/or DC Operations Engineering Manager for alternatives to processes, risk mitigation strategies, risk acceptance, and risk transfer solutions that will control or reduce DCS risks.

6. Keep Principal Global Risk Manager and/or DC Operations Engineering Manager informed of follow-through on risk mitigation, process improvement recommendations, and corresponding effect on the risk profile.

7. Conduct ongoing risk reviews of business practices and processes to establish and provide proactive risk management services. Communicate to management and assist in focusing appropriate knowledge and resources to revise practices/processes, as appropriate.

8. Support DCS management directly and in concert with LCA and assigned outside counsel on contractual risk matters, including drafting and communication of appropriate contractual standards for identified risk areas, negotiations of contract provisions, and consulting when contractual issues arise for risk-related sections of contracts, including insurance requirements, indemnification and limitations of liability.

9. Key partners include DC Advanced Development, Site & Business Analytics, DC Architecture & Design Management, DC Engineering, DC Development, DCS Operations, Treasury Risk Group, GFS Business Continuity, and GFS Security, among others.

Experience and Skills Required

1. Previous accomplishments and required experience includes:
(A) 10+ years of experience as a risk manager responsible for managing property and casualty risks, including 5+ years performing risk analysis and assessments and 2+ years working with mission critical facility risks
(B) 3+ years of combined property and casualty safety, loss prevention and risk control experience
(C) 2+ years of experience working with data centers

2. Bachelors degree in business management or organizational management

3. Helpful, but not required preferred experience includes:
(A) Proven record of generating risk management savings to the organization(s) served
(B) Business law experience, including contractual skills and claims/loss handling
(C) International risk management and/or international commercial insurance experience
(D) Strong understanding of a broad range of risk mitigation and transfer methods
(E) Construction risk management experience
(F) Professional certifications/credentials, such as ARM, CRM, CSHM, CSP, CRIS, CPCU, etc.
(G) Strategic Thinking and Team Collaboration
(H) Knowledge of how to identify, analyze and assess, mitigate, respond to, and monitor risks that may be present in Microsoft data centers
(I) Skill with risk identification methodologies, risk analysis tools (e.g., Crystal Ball, Excel, etc), and risk mitigation strategies
(J) Collaboration, large scale DC experience, impactful cost savings through risk reduction
